The Dario Belardi Memorial Golf Tournament was established in 2012 as a tribute to Dario Belardi and in support of United Way’s efforts to help those in need in Monroe County. As a tribute to Dario’s benevolence, volunteerism, dedication and love for our community, this tournament has now evolved to further honor individuals who have recently passed that shared this commitment and supported the mission of the United Way of Monroe County — to bring people together to improve the lives of those in need in Monroe County. This year, the tournament is honoring the late Joseph Farda.
Born in Italy in 1925, immigrating to the US at the age of 15, and arriving in Monroe County in 1953 with his young and growing family, Joseph Farda established a long and successful career in the hospitality industry in the Pocono Mountains, including the development of the beautiful Hideaway Hills Golf Course at which this year’s tournament is being held.
Mr. Farda and his wife Ann were known for their philanthropic giving and contributions to the community.Mr. Farda was awarded United Way’s Mattioli Philanthropy Award in June 2015.
